Every component of a great home theater

We handle the full system — receiver, speakers, display, source devices, wiring, and calibration. You don't need to coordinate multiple installers.

AV Receivers

The brain of the system. The receiver decodes Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, powers all your speakers, switches between sources (Apple TV, Blu-ray, game console), and runs room calibration. We spec the right receiver for your channel count and room size — not the cheapest one that fits the box.

Speaker Systems

Speakers are where the money shows. We use Klipsch for rooms that need high efficiency and dynamics (horn-loaded tweeters, loud and clear), Polk Audio Signature Elite for value-focused builds, and SVS for reference-grade setups. For Atmos height channels, we install in-ceiling speakers flush with the ceiling — no upfiring modules needed.

Subwoofers

Bass you feel, not just hear. A good subwoofer does more than add thump — it handles everything below 80 Hz so your main speakers focus on midrange and highs, which dramatically improves the whole system. SVS subwoofers are our go-to: sealed for tight, accurate bass in medium rooms; ported for maximum output in larger spaces.

Projectors & Screens

For dedicated rooms, a projector gives you a 110"–150" image for less than a comparable TV at that size. We use Epson for bright, reliable 4K performance at mid-range budgets, BenQ for high-contrast dark room setups, and Sony for premium installs. Screens are fixed-frame (Elite Screens, Screen Innovations) for the cleanest look and best image flatness.

Source Devices & Streaming

The display and speakers are only as good as the source feeding them. We install and configure Apple TV 4K (best for Apple households, Dolby Vision + Atmos), Nvidia Shield Pro (best Android streaming box, AI upscaling), and 4K Blu-ray players for the highest possible quality. Everything connects via HDMI 2.1 for full 4K/120Hz and eARC support.

Control & Automation

One button or one voice command should do it all: dim the lights, close the shades, power on the receiver and TV, switch to the right input, and start your movie. We wire the theater room into your smart home system and configure universal remotes or app-based control so nobody needs a manual to watch a movie.

Speaker configurations

5.1 vs 7.1.4 — what's the right layout for your room?

Front Left & Right — towers or bookshelf, flanking the screen

Carry the bulk of movie and music output and set the stereo image. Positioned at ear height, angled slightly inward toward the main seating position for the tightest, most accurate soundstage.

Center channel — directly below or above the screen, handles dialogue

Carries most movie dialogue and on-screen effects. Matched to the same line as the front L&R so voices sound consistent with the rest of the mix, not thin or boxy by comparison.

Surround Left & Right — beside or just behind seating

Fill in ambient sound and directional effects — footsteps, rain, off-screen action — so the room feels alive instead of just loud up front. Mounted at or slightly above ear height, aimed at the seating area.

Subwoofer — typically front corner placement for best bass

Handles everything below 80 Hz — explosions, engine rumble, low bass in music — so the other speakers aren't straining to reproduce frequencies they were never built for. Corner placement reinforces output; we fine-tune from there based on the room.

Front L/C/R — towers + center

The same front-stage layout as a 5.1 system, built to carry Dolby Atmos' expanded dynamic range without strain at reference volume.

Surround L & R — beside seating

Sit level with the main seating row, delivering the same side-field ambience as a 5.1 setup but tuned to blend seamlessly with the height channels overhead.

Surround Back L & R — behind seating

Add a rear layer behind the seating position, so effects can travel fully around the room instead of stopping at the sides — the difference between “surround” and true 360-degree sound.

4x Atmos height speakers — in-ceiling, front & rear overhead positions

The defining feature of a 7.1.4 setup — in-ceiling modules (or upfiring add-ons) placed above and slightly ahead and behind the seating position, adding a full overhead layer for rain, aircraft, and other object-based effects.

Subwoofer (can add 2nd for even coverage)

A single sub covers most rooms fine, but a second sub on an opposite wall evens out bass response across every seat — eliminating the dead spots one sub can create in larger or irregularly shaped rooms.

8-position mic measurement

We place the included Audyssey microphone at 8 positions across your seating area. The receiver captures room reflections, distance, and frequency response at each position.

Automatic distance & level correction

Audyssey sets exact distance to each speaker (so sound from all speakers arrives at your ears at the same time) and adjusts volume levels to match.

Full-range room EQ applied

MultEQ XT32 applies a high-resolution EQ curve that corrects for room modes — those frequency peaks and dips caused by wall reflections that make bass boom or go missing in certain spots.

Manual fine-tuning

We review the Audyssey results and adjust where needed — particularly the subwoofer crossover point and any speaker-specific settings the auto-cal doesn't nail.

We run test content through the whole system — dialogue, action sequences, music — and verify it sounds right before we call it done.

If you're building a dedicated theater room, it's worth doing. If you just want good TV audio, a 5.1 or soundbar setup is fine.
Projector or TV — which is better for a home theater?
A projector gives you a larger image for less money at the top end, but requires a dark room and more setup. A TV (75"–85") is brighter, works in ambient light, and is simpler. For dedicated rooms, we recommend projector + fixed-frame screen. For living rooms or dual-purpose spaces, a large 4K TV is usually the better call.
What does Audyssey calibration do?
Audyssey (built into Denon and Marantz receivers) plays test tones through each speaker, measures the response with a microphone from 8 positions, then automatically corrects for room reflections, speaker distance, and frequency imbalances. Without calibration, even great speakers sound off in most rooms. We always run calibration as part of every theater install.
Can you install a home theater in an existing room?
Yes — most of our installs are in existing living rooms, basements, or bonus rooms. We assess the room, design a speaker layout that works with your walls and ceiling, run wires through the wall where possible, and use in-ceiling speakers for Atmos height channels. Dedicated rooms sound better, but a well-designed existing room install is a dramatic upgrade over any soundbar.

Yes. We handle the full install — TV or projector mount, screen installation, AV receiver setup, all speaker placement and wiring, HDMI runs, and full system calibration. You don't need a separate installer for the mount.
