Every component of a great home theater

We handle the full system — receiver, speakers, display, source devices, wiring, and calibration. You don't need to coordinate multiple installers.

AV Receivers

The receiver decodes Atmos and DTS:X, powers every speaker, switches between Apple TV, Blu-ray, and consoles, and handles the room calibration. We spec the receiver to the channel count and room size — whether that's a downtown Carlisle rowhome or a new build off I-81.

Even the best display and speakers are limited by the source. We set up Apple TV 4K for Apple households, Nvidia Shield Pro for the strongest Android streaming experience, and 4K Blu-ray for the highest possible quality — all over HDMI 2.1 for full 4K/120 and eARC.

Control & Automation

One button should dim the lights, close the shades, power on the gear, and land on the right input. We wire the theater into whatever smart home system is already in place and set up a universal remote or app so nobody's hunting for a manual.

Speaker configurations

5.1 vs 7.1.4 — what's the right layout for your room?

Front Left & Right — towers or bookshelf, flanking the screen

Carry most of the movie and music output and set the stereo image. We angle them slightly inward toward the main seat — a small adjustment that makes a real difference in soundstage accuracy.

Center channel — directly below or above the screen, handles dialogue

Carries dialogue and most on-screen effects. It has to match tonally with the front L&R, or voices sound thin against the rest of the mix.

Surround Left & Right — beside or just behind seating

Footsteps, rain, off-screen action — the ambient layer that keeps a room from feeling like it's just loud up front. Mounted near ear height, aimed at the seats.

Subwoofer — typically front corner placement for best bass

Handles everything below 80 Hz — explosions, engine rumble, low end in music — so the mains aren't straining at frequencies they were never built for. We start in the corner and fine-tune from there.

Front L/C/R — towers + center

Same front-stage layout as 5.1, sized to carry Atmos' wider dynamic range at reference volume without strain.

Surround L & R — beside seating

Level with the seating row, giving the same side ambience as 5.1 but tuned to blend with the overhead channels rather than fight them.

Surround Back L & R — behind seating

Adds a rear layer so sound can travel fully around the room instead of stopping at the sides — the actual difference between "surround" and 360-degree audio.

4x Atmos height speakers — in-ceiling, front & rear overhead positions

What makes it 7.1.4. In-ceiling modules go overhead — fished through existing basement joists downtown, or pulled clean before drywall goes up on a new-construction build near I-81.

Subwoofer (can add 2nd for even coverage)

One sub handles most rooms fine, but a second one on the opposite wall closes the dead spots that a single sub can leave in an irregular older floor plan.
